Colonel Brian Low is the Director, Logistics, Engineering, and Force Protection for Headquarters, Fifth Air Force, Yokota Air Base, Japan. In this position, he develops and fosters bilateral relationships and interoperability to support contingency operations in the Pacific region and for the defense of Japan. He leads the planning, programming, and execution of host nation construction programs for three bases and, 53,000 military and civilian personnel. He administers environmental, real estate, encroachment, and strategic basing programs with U.S. Forces Japan and the Government of Japan. Additionally, he oversees contingency and joint security operations, antiterrorism planning, and bilateral security training. Finally, he provides oversight of base support plans at three installations, surveys of Japanese airfields for contingency planning, and exercise logistics and maintenance support for Japanese participation in US Pacific Command and Pacific Air Forces bilateral and multinational exercises and international contingencies. Colonel Low received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and commission through the Reserve Officers Training Program at Utah State University in 2003. Since commissioning, he has served in a variety of positions at the Air Staff, MAJCOM and squadron levels, including three squadron commands as the Civil Engineer Squadron Commander at Osan Air Base, Korea and F.E. Warren AFB, WY and as an Air Officer Commanding over Cadet Squadron 13 at the United States Air Force Academy, CO. He deployed three times in support of both Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. Prior to his current position, Colonel Low was the Deputy Commander, 51st Mission Support Group, Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea where he directed five squadrons that provided communications, engineering, security, law enforcement, logistics and personnel support at the Air Force’s most permanently forward deployed fighter wing.
