前衆議院議員、自由民主党北海道第５選挙区支部長。昭和４６年（１９７１年）１０月１０日生まれ。パリインターナショナルスクール、早稲田大学商学部卒。平成７年（１９９５年）、三菱商事に入社。約２０年間、中南米・東南アジア・インド等で自動車の販売網構築、販売マーケティング、Ｍ＆Ａ等に従事。ペルーに１年間長期滞在し、インドに５年間駐在した。岳父、町村信孝の逝去に伴い、平成２８年（２０１６年）、衆議院補欠選挙に立候補し初当選後、衆議院議員を3期務める。商社時代に培った「徹底した現場主義」を政治信条とし、内閣府大臣政務官、内閣府副大臣、防衛大臣補佐官などを歴任。
