Shane Anderson

Business Development Manager, Collins Aerospace

Raised and educated in Brisbane, Australia, Shane was commissioned into the Australian Army Aviation Corps in 1992.  Here he flew BlackHawk helicopters and completed the RAF Helicopter Instructor course, on exchange, before returning to Australia to instruct on Squirrel helicopters.  In 2002 he returned to the UK and joined the RAF.  He was posted to Puma Helicopters in Northern Ireland where he completed tours as an Instructor and Flight Commander. During this time, he was awarded a MBE for his efforts and leadership as well as a DFC for gallantry on operations in Iraq.  Following a ground tour he completed UK Staff College and then returned to flying to command 33 Squadron at RAF Benson.  During his squadron command tour he led the helicopter Air to Air capability for the London Olympic Games in 2012.  Shane has completed staff tours in Air Command, Ministry of Defence and NATO and flown over 4400 hours.


Shane joined Collins Aerospace in February 2021 and is a Senior Business Development Manager for Mission Systems primarily for Royal Air Force facing programmes with focus on next generation Air Combat Training and 6th generation fighter programmes.
Away from the work he is married to Melanie and they choose to spend their spare time in the South of France where they pour money into a boat shaped hole.  Sporting interests include rugby, cricket and not falling off a paddleboard.
