Derek Kenmotsu is a business leader in the tech industry, entrepreneur, and U.S. Army Special Forces officer. In his current role as the AI/ML Defense Engagement Lead at the Defense Innovation Unit, he partners with organizations in the U.S. Department of Defense to rapidly solve problems using best in class dual-use commercial technology. Previously, he worked at Apple, leading cross-functional teams to develop and ship various iPhone components. As an Army Special Forces officer, he advised the Commanding General of the Philippine Army Special Operations Command. He earned his MBA from the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business where he was elected class president and BS in International Relations from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
