o Explore the importance of scalable solutions
o The importance of interoperability with partner fleets throughout the region
o How partners can collaborate to prioritize the right capabilities, so that we can work together to deter future threats in the region

Nihon University contribution overview:

Military sealift of Japan, the United States, and other like-minded countries in East Asia is facing challenges posed by layered anti-ship threats. At the same time, many of the remote islands in this region have few large ports and some are surrounded by coral reefs, so there are many restrictions on military sealift. In order to respond to these challenges, it will be necessary to procure a lot of small and fast landing crafts with heavy payload, shallow draft, and flexible landing capability.
